On Friday morning Ballymena Chamber of Commerce and The NI Children’s Hospice held a ‘thank you’ event for businesses who have donated to this year’s Chamber Charity Golf Day. The event was held in The Castle Kitchen Bar at Galgorm Castle Golf Club.

Chamber President Peter Houston said ‘We wanted to thank all our businesses who have donated to this year’s event – thanks to their generosity we have raised over £16,000 to date and we hope to increase this further with a raffle on the day.
Kathleen Anderson who has helped organise the event on behalf of The Ballymena Hospice Support Group said, ‘Ballymena Chamber have been great supporters of the Hospice and The Children’s Hospice and our local businesses have been so generous coming forward to support us at a time when the Hospice desperately needs funds to ensure all the facilities can be opened to help families and children in their time of need’.
The event was very informal and gave businesses an opportunity to chat to Hospice staff and learn more about how their donations will be used and how critical their support is to the running of the Children’s Hospice.
The weather stayed dry to allow for photographs to be taken outside and everyone hoped that the Golf Day itself on Friday 12th June would stay dry for the eighty-eight golfers who have signed up to attend the event, making it the biggest Golf Day in Chamber’s history.

Tom Wiggins, Ballymena Chamber’s Chief Executive said ‘We are proud to be supporting The Children’s Hospice as part of Chamber’s Community Outreach Programme, however the thanks need to go to our sponsors who have generously supported the event with their individual donations and to the golfers who are coming along to enjoy what we hope will be another fantastic day. This is our 6th Charity Golf Day and the events have raised over £118,000 to date’
I would like to thank our principal sponsors Galgorm and our other sponsors – The Country Garage BMW; Antrim Construction; Pilgrims Europe; Power NI; Norbev; Michelin Development Ltd; Tullyglass House Hotel, MET Healthcare, Newbridge Financial Planning, Barbara Campbell Training and Consultancy and Uel Campbell, WPA Healthcare.
