Back to Business Awards

It’s Here! The 2021 Ballymena Back to Business Awards

Ballymena Chamber of Commerce and Industry is delighted to announce the launch of the 2021 ‘Ballymena Back to Business Awards’ This is the 18th year of the awards which are organised annually by the Chamber. Mid and East Antrim Borough Council are the principal sponsor for this year’s awards.

The Awards sponsors at the official launch of the ‘Ballymena Back to Business Awards’ in The Braid.

Chamber President Councillor Eugene Reid said “Little did we think when we hosted the awards in 2019 that we would face a pandemic in the following year which would have such a devastating effect on individuals, families, communities and businesses. However thankfully we are now seeing light at the end of a long tunnel and as a Chamber we are committed to working hard for our businesses and the ‘Ballymena Back to Business Awards’ will give businesses, their customers and the community a sense of normality and positivity.

These awards help to celebrate the huge contribution made by business to our local community through what has been a very tough year.

I would like to thank Mid and East Antrim Borough Council for agreeing to be principal sponsor again this year and I assure you that Chamber will do everything to make this year’s awards a great success. Indeed, I would like to thank all the businesses who have sponsored awards or taken an advertisement in the Awards Brochure – without your support there would be no awards.

The judging this year will be managed by Barbara Campbell Training and Consultancy. To make the process easier for our businesses the application process has moved online with the opportunity to have the interview process conducted on Zoom. Barbara Campbell Training and Consultancy are entirely independent of Chamber thereby ensuring the integrity of the awards’.

Chamber Vice President Leigh Heggarty, Galgorm Spa and Golf Resort said, ‘Every effort has been made this year to acknowledge the difficulties which businesses have faced and indeed continue to face. Another change this year is that the awards will be presented at a Celebratory Lunch in the Tullyglass House Hotel. Whilst this will still be a major event the cost of tickets can be reduced to ensure all businesses have the opportunity to attend and celebrate all that is good about business in the area.

The lunch will also provide Chamber with the opportunity to acknowledge the incredible effort of those who have supported us during the crisis – Chamber will host a table for NHS workers, Care workers and Hospice staff – who have continued to provide the community with the highest quality care during the most difficult of circumstances.

Chamber are also hosting a major Charity Golf Day on 24th September at Galgorm Castle Golf Club in aid of the NI Hospice and The Children’s Hospice and Chamber hope to present the Hospice with a substantial cheque at the Awards Celebratory Lunch.

The Awards Brochure will be circulated throughout the Ballymena area and I would encourage all businesses in the Ballymena Area to again take part in what has become one of the major business events in the local area. There are 19 awards this year so there is a category to suit everyone – large or small businesses, retail, hospitality, agricultural or industrial together with individual awards. I look forward to welcoming you all to the Celebratory Lunch on Tuesday 19th October’.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Cllr. William McGaughey with Chamber President Cllr Eugene Reid at the launch of the ‘Ballymena Back to Business Awards’.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Councillor William McCaughey said: ‘Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is delighted and proud to sponsor the hugely prestigious Ballymena Back to Business Awards.

These awards celebrate the talent, entrepreneurship and ambition of our local business leaders and are the perfect way to highlight the achievements of individuals and the business excellence that exists in the Ballymena Area. Businesses and industry leaders deserve to be recognised for their vision, innovation and commitment.

‘Given the difficulties faced as a result of Covid-19, it is hoped these awards will give businesses and customers a sense of normality and positivity for the future as we welcome people back to Mid and East Antrim and I wish all the entrants well, ahead of this year’s event.’
