Cambridge House takes on the world!
Team SIANIDE is an F1 in Schools team formed as a collaboration effort from two schools on the Island of Ireland, one from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The team was formed with a view of competing at the F1 in Schools World Finals to be held in Singapore in September 2010. F1 in Schools is a competition, open to all secondary schools, to design and manufacture compressed air-powered racing cars. Student teams compete against each other in a National Championship to determine the best-engineered and fastest car. Those successful at the National Finals stage are invited to the World Finals.
Team SIANIDE Business Breakfast at Cambridge House
Team Sianide welcomed representatives from the Ballymena Chamber of Commerce who joined them in Cambridge House this morning to show their support for the team’s venture. The boys are currently organising a Business Breakfast to present their project to local business people who are interested in offering their support to this excellent event.
Paidraig Duffy and Brian Turley, students from O’Fiaich College, were in Ballymena to work with their Cambridge House team mates, Paul McCaughern, Steven McMahon and Jonathan Bristow, taking advantage of the opportunity to enhance their relations with local business people. Roy Bonar from Alexander Bonar Ltd along with Chris and Audrey Wales and Alison Moore has offered excellent support on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce.
Ballymena Borough Chamber of Commerce and Industry would like to wish Cambridge House every success in the finals in Singapore. Chris Wales, Chamber Business Development Manager said "This young team from Cambridge House did exceptionally well in becoming UK Champions 2010 and therefore qualifying for the world final. In the Ballymena Borough Business awards there is an Innovation award that recognises the efforts of businesses that overcome challenges presented when developing new products and services and competing internationally. This is the challenge faced by this team and I have no doubt that the experience gained in this competition will serve them well in the years to come. I look forward to meeting them when they return from Singapore, hopefully with the World trophy"
Cambridge House will host the breakfast at the school on Wednesday 1st September from 7.30 – 9.00 am. Those attending will be offered a hearty breakfast and a brief presentation from the team to inform potential sponsors and supporters of their exiting project. The team can offer substantial opportunities for promotion and marketing in Singapore, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland as the F1 in Schools competition is very much a global event. There are over 31 countries taking part in Singapore during the Grand Prix week.
To date the team would like to thank their current sponsors Robison’s Cost cutter, Castrol, Ballymena Borough Council, Cambridge House Parents and Friends Association, Flogas, Sloan Transport, James Donnelly and Son, Carter Bearings, Killyless Stores, Clady Timber, Roy McKeown Mechanics, Creagh Concrete, Stevenson and Reid and Dontaur Precision Engineering.
