I am a traditional signwriter and artist based in Ballymena and have been trading as Signability since 1996, although I have over 30 years’ experience working within this field.  After leaving school, I started working for Lamonts at Riverside Textiles, Antrim and after a five year apprenticeship I qualified as a Textile Designer.  Many of my designs are still in production and available worldwide.  After being made redundant, I took up a position with Crazy Prices, Broughshane Street, Ballymena as a part-time Signwriter.  I eventually progressed to the position of Signage and Signwriting Manager for both Stewarts and Crazy Prices; responsible for all internal signage and relevant staff within each of their thirty-three stores throughout Northern Ireland.  When Tescos bought over the business they operated a more automated / central signage service therefore making my position obsolete.  This gave me the incentive to finally start my own business.
